What’s better than a trip to the Florida Keys? A trip with some of your favorite travel bloggers! We recently took over Hawks Cay Resort in Duck Key, Florida and are still buzzing about how much fun we had. From parasailing, to learning about dolphins, to delicious dinners at the resort’s famous Angler & Ale and Alma restaurants (calories on vacay don’t count, right?) we had a total blast. Can’t wait to do it again at our next destination!
Five travel influencers from the US and Canada traveled to the Hawks Cay Resort to experience the amazing activities, amenities and cuisine they have to offer. Nina, co-founder of Sidewalker Daily and Natalia, a professional fashion/travel photographer from Miami joined the fun. It was an amazing group of girls and they all brought their individual strengths to make the trip extra special.
AGGIE | @travel_inhershoes: Mega content creator from Los Angeles.
CHRISTINA | @theboldbrunette: Instagram boot camp coach from New York.
LISA | @lisahomsy: Image editing guru from Canada.
ASHLEY | @travellushes: Travel video expert from Atlanta.
DIANA | @followdee: Lifestyle creative from Miami.
NINA | @sidewalkerdaily: Hostess with the mostess from Miami.
NATALIA | @natalyaphoto: Professional travel + fashion photographer from Miami.
The girls spent 4 days and 3 nights at Hawks Cay Resort on Duck Key in the famous Florida Keys. Hawks Cay is a dream resort because you honestly never have to leave! They have everything you could ever want or need on property and not to mention some of the yummiest restaurants.
The best part about press trips are all the fun activities you get to do while exploring a new destination. Yes, sure it’s work, but when your first task of the day is to go jet skiing or parasailing, it’s not so hard to wake up in the morning.
As much as we had fun getting pampered at the spa and hanging poolside sipping mojitos, some of our favorite moments on the trip happened late night after dinner. We stayed up past our bedtime laughing until we cried, swapping blogger tips and trading industry secrets.
One of the coolest parts of the trip was being able to bring together a group of girls who have been supporting each other for years but had never met in person (Catfish, travel blogger edition LOL). We all got so close on the trip that we’re still in a Whatsapp group and send tips, news and updates all the time. (Fun fact: Lisa and Aggie met for the first time on the trip and vibed so much that they booked a huge trip after exploring Asia together!)
Press trips really are a travel blogger’s dream but the reality is they are a balance of a lot of fun and a lot of work. During down time, travel bloggers shot video and photos to make sure they got enough content to deliver for the client. We planned a special treat where we had the Vice President of a travel PR company give a presentation and Q & A on Press Trip Etiquette and insights from the client’s perspective.
Here at Sidewalker Daily we’re all about making sure travel bloggers and influencers have all the support they need on trips because we know how it sometimes can be difficult to unwind when you have client deliverables at the back of your mind. For this trip in particular, we were able to have a professional photographer assist the girls with their content creation so they could rest a little easier.
All in all, Press Trips are a great way to travel to new places, experience activities you may never be able to again and meet some of your favorite like-minded people that could turn into life long friendships. Until next time!
